Great Band. Pick Your Seats Carefully.
Slipknot has been through a lot of turmoil over the past couple of years, with multiple members departing the band, and now they’ve announced a massive stadium tour for next year. I’ve seen Slipknot a couple of times. They were great both times, most recently on the 25th anniversary run for the self-titled album, where they played it in full. That was awesome. I was definitely missing some stuff from Iowa, a record I truly love, and I was hoping they’d launch a tour just to celebrate it. But here we are.
Craig Jones and Jay Weinberg both left in 2023, and Sid Wilson was fired this summer. Their answer is the (sic)est Stadium Tour, running through North America, South America and the UK in summer 2027. Los Angeles gets SoFi Stadium on Friday, August 13. Yes, Friday the 13th. Bring Me the Horizon is on every North American date, and Loathe opens in LA.
Want first crack? That’s tonight. SoFi hosts a launch event today, September 28, 5 to 9 PM at the Entry 5 box office. Every price level plus VIP packages goes on sale there, first come, first served, and the first 500 buyers get a free commemorative poster. Credit card only, 8 tickets max. Limited first-pressing merch opens at 5, parking is free in Lot C on Pincay Drive from 3, and they’re lighting a 30-foot steel Tribal S on fire. Everyone else: Slipknot presale is Tuesday, September 29 at 10 AM local, general on-sale Friday, October 2 at 10 AM.

Now, I have a bit of a love-hate relationship with SoFi. It’s a fantastic place for sports, with the Rams and Chargers calling it home. But I’ve seen a couple of concerts there, and unless you have really, really great tickets, the sound in that stadium does not carry well. Be warned: you’re going to need tickets in the lower bowl or on the floor to truly get the experience you deserve. The 400 and 500 levels will not be what you want. It gets too steep and the sound gets too bad.
My other complaint is that the LA lineup doesn’t look super interesting. I was hoping for a different band. Lamb of God is on the Chicago date, and that would have been really cool for the whole run.

Either way, this is going to be a massive metal tour next summer. If you’re on the fence like I am about buying tickets, fear not. You have about 11 months to decide. The good seats won’t wait that long.
