Got Nothing Going On Sunday?
If you’re in LA this weekend and you’ve got nothing to do, here’s your plan. Carnifex, one of the coolest deathcore bands around, is playing a free show at the Hazheart store on Sunday. I’m not sure I’ll get a chance to check it out myself, but this is cool. Go.
Hazheart, the music and clothing shop at 6515 Van Nuys Blvd, announced the show today in a joint post with the band. It’s Sunday, October 4. Doors at 7 PM, Carnifex at 8 PM, and it costs nothing. There’s also a limited, exclusive Haz x Carnifex merch drop the same night. Can’t make it? The flyer says the set streams live at hazheart.tv.
Yes, it’s Van Nuys. That’s still LA.
Carnifex is one of the leaders in this space, and they’ve earned it the long way. Album ten, More Than Misery, lands November 6 on Sumerian Records, and we already made the case that this band still doesn’t get the credit it deserves. A free set in a store a month out from a new record is how you get people talking before release day.
The timing works, too. They play San Diego on Friday and San Jose on Saturday on the All Shall Perish anniversary run, which left Sunday open. Somebody made good use of it.
Two warnings. The store says to get there early because this will fill up, and the merch is limited, so the early crowd gets first pick. And this weekend is supposed to be insanely hot. Drink some water before you pack into a shop in the Valley.
Free deathcore on a Sunday night. Hard to argue with that.
