Hard to Label, Easy to Recommend
Polyphia are one of the hardest acts in metal to put in a box, and that’s exactly the appeal. Some of their songs lean heavy. Others, like the brand-new “Can You Feel It,” drift almost into pop, wrapped in a politically charged video. At the very least these guys are interesting. At the most, they’re one of the strongest instrumental metal acts in the world.
The instrumental prog outfit just announced a 2026 world tour. The North American leg opens September 5th in Dallas and runs through October 18th in Nashville, hitting SoCal twice along the way: the Hollywood Palladium in LA and the House of Blues in Anaheim. A European and UK run follows from November into December, 21 more dates on top of the 26 in North America. RJ Pasin rides along on every date, Ladrones takes primary support across North America, Perturbator handles the overseas shows, and Plini and Intervals jump on select stops. A presale runs today (June 16th) with the code CANYOUFEELIT, and general on-sale is Friday, June 19th at 10 a.m. local via Ticketmaster.
The real draw is Tim Henson. The guy is a genuine virtuoso, and he’s spent years turning guitar technique into something even non-players want to watch, building a following across every platform that exists. If you’ve never seen his work, that alone is worth a ticket. “Can You Feel It” is the band’s first new song since Remember You Will Die in 2022, and the political edge on that video says they’re not content to just be the technical-flash band anymore. Whether the pop lean is a detour or a direction, this tour is the first chance to see where their heads are at.
I’ll be at the Anaheim show. Come find out for yourself what these guys actually are. Hope to see you there.
