The Heavy Roads Lead West

If you like it slow and crushing, this was your week. Two of the most respected names in modern doom and post-metal announced fall tours, and both are routing straight through Southern California. After a few roundups stacked with hardcore and reunion-circuit nostalgia, this one belongs to the people who like their riffs patient.

Pallbearer — Foundations of Burden Tour

with Ordh

WKM Will Be There
Constellation Room · Santa Ana · Sept 2
Pallbearer Foundations of Burden Tour 2026 poster

Pallbearer are closing the book on their Foundations of Burden run, and they’re doing it the right way, playing the whole record front to back. That 2014 album is the one that turned a promising Arkansas doom band into the standard everyone else gets measured against. Hearing “Watcher in the Dark” and “The Ghost I Used to Be” in sequence is the kind of thing you build a night around. I’ll be at the Constellation Room on September 2nd. Small room, massive sound, exactly how this should be heard. Ordh opens the West Coast dates.

Russian Circles — Nine Fall Tour

with Pelican and Primitive Man

Russian Circles Nine fall 2026 tour poster

Russian Circles don’t tour light. Their ninth album, Nine, lands August 28th on Sargent House, tracked partly at Steve Albini’s Electrical Audio with Converge’s Kurt Ballou engineering. The bill is as heavy as that pedigree suggests. Pelican carries the first leg, then Primitive Man takes over for the West Coast run, which means the LA stop at the Belasco on November 11th comes with Denver’s most punishing sludge band in the opening slot. This is instrumental post-metal that actually earns the “post.” Go for Russian Circles, stay for Primitive Man flattening the room.
