The Voodoo Room. Count Me In.
Hypocrisy has always been one of my favorite bands — The Arrival is an absolute classic that I spin fairly regularly, with a lot of fond memories attached — so seeing them book a 250-cap room in San Diego is something I don’t think I’m going to be able to pass up. Count me in on being there.
The band announced four exclusive US headline shows under the Mass Hallucination Over North America 2026 banner, expanding the August run they’re already playing in support of Dimmu Borgir. These are the off-dates, routed between the package stops, with Hulder supporting in Omaha and Salt Lake City. The announcement came straight from the band — no press cycle, no label rollout.

This is a pretty surprising booking. Hypocrisy has been around over three decades with their combination of death metal mixed with aliens, and these are very intimate rooms — the Voodoo Room holds 250 people, and it’s not even the main hall at House of Blues San Diego. That room holds 1,100, and it’s one floor up. Then the next night, they open for Dimmu Borgir at the 2,400-cap Novo in LA. Same band, ten times the room. The Voodoo Room is the one to be at.
Peter Tägtgren has a voice that is truly unmatched throughout metal — the newer stuff is pretty cool too, but that voice in a room that small is the whole ticket. If you don’t have tickets to see them on this tour: Hypocrisy doesn’t come around super often, and they are absolutely worth seeing live. Check it out.
