Two metal shows just landed on the LA calendar, and they couldn’t be more different. One I still can’t fully describe after listening for days. The other I respect more than I’ve ever loved — and that’s still a reason to pay attention.

Igorrr

The Novo, Los Angeles | October 4, 2026

with Secret Chiefs 3 & Violent Magic Orchestra

Igorrr North American Tour 2026 poster

If you’ve never heard Igorrr, I’m not sure anything I say will prepare you. French composer Gautier Serre has built something that genuinely defies categorization: baroque instrumentation, operatic vocals, blast beats, accordion, death metal riffing — sounds that don’t belong together, making the only sense they can. It shouldn’t work. It does. Their live reputation is formidable; shows that leave people questioning what heavy music is supposed to be. Joining them on this run are Secret Chiefs 3 — American experimental rock at its most intricate — and Japan’s Violent Magic Orchestra, pushing avant-garde black metal into strange new territory. Three acts, zero genre. This is the kind of show you go to because you need to be reminded that metal still has room to surprise you. The Novo, October 4th. Make it happen.

Six Feet Under

1720, Los Angeles | July 26, 2026

with Kataklysm & Wormhole

Six Feet Under press photo

Chris Barnes has been one of death metal’s most recognizable voices for over thirty years, and Six Feet Under has been his vehicle since 1993. They’re not chasing anything. The riffs are slow and heavy, the delivery is relentless, and the influence they’ve had on accessible death metal is impossible to dispute. The Decades In The Grave tour also marks the reunion of Barnes with guitarist Jack Owen — which alone makes this a notable run. Whether you’ve followed them since Haunted or respected them from a distance, a Six Feet Under live set is exactly what it sounds like — methodical, punishing, and metal to the bone. 1720 is the right room for this. Kataklysm and Wormhole open.
